Gaza Conflict Media Coverage Declines as World Turns Away

Coverage of the Gaza conflict has markedly faded, with fewer headlines and social‑media posts reporting the ongoing violence. Analysts note that financial markets have returned to normal calculations and diplomats are being asked to set aside reports on the situation, indicating a broader desensitisation.

The Palestinian Ministry of Health reports that since the Israeli offensive began in October 2023, at least 73,221 Palestinians have been killed – half of them women and children – and 173,654 have been injured. By February 2026 the death toll among children rose to 21,289, with 44,500 injured. Even after a cease‑fire was declared on 11 October 2025, violence continued, killing 1,100 Palestinians (including 260 children) and wounding 3,546 more, averaging about four Palestinian deaths per day.
