Gaza conflict remains unresolved despite Israeli military operations

Israeli military and security officials acknowledge that the conflict in the Gaza Strip remains unresolved despite years of warfare. While the Israeli military currently controls approximately 64% of the territory and maintains presence through various advanced positions, Hamas continues to maintain control over the population and retains its armed capabilities.

Reports indicate that the ‘Generals’ Plan’—a strategy proposed in late 2024 to evacuate northern Gaza and create a closed military zone by restricting food, water, and fuel—has failed to achieve its primary objectives. Instead of forcing Hamas to surrender or release hostages, the strategy has resulted in repeated military operations in areas previously declared under control, as Palestinian residents have returned to these zones.

Security sources highlight a lack of a structured political plan for the future of Gaza as a primary reason for the ongoing stalemate. While the Israeli military focuses on targeted assassinations and constructing physical barriers to prevent tunnel incursions, the absence of a political alternative has prevented the establishment of a stable security reality.
