Gaza families bury remains recovered from Al-Muhandiseen Tower

Families in the Gaza Strip have begun the process of burying the remains of victims recovered from the ruins of the Al-Muhandiseen Tower in the Nuseirat refugee camp. The tower, which housed over 350 residents and displaced persons, was targeted during the early stages of the conflict.

In recent funerary processions, crowds gathered to honor members of the Al-Thawabta family, including elders, women, and children, whose remains had stayed trapped under the rubble for nearly three years. The recovery efforts, conducted near Al-Awda Hospital, highlight the ongoing humanitarian crisis in the region.

Civil Defense spokesperson Mahmoud Bassal stated that approximately 8,000 bodies remain trapped under destroyed buildings across the Gaza Strip. Search and recovery teams face significant obstacles, including a critical shortage of heavy machinery, equipment, and fuel, which complicates the efforts to retrieve the deceased.
