Gaza Media Workshop held in Istanbul to document humanitarian violations

In Istanbul, the Gaza Media Workshop was held at Ibn Haldun University as the first thematic event of the International Interdisciplinary Gaza Symposium (IIGS 2026). Organized by Stand for Gaza Academic in collaboration with the Palestine Support Platform, Press for Palestine, and Atatürk University, the workshop aimed to move beyond theoretical discussion toward concrete action against the media blockade in Gaza.

Dr. Muhammet Raşit Sancar, the General Coordinator of IIGS 2026, stated that the event serves as a planning hub to unite academics, journalists, and legal experts. Key objectives include using data journalism to document the destruction of education in Gaza and transforming this data into legal files for international bodies such as the UN, the International Court of Justice, and the International Criminal Court.

Separately, in Bursa, researcher Abdurrahman Ateş delivered a presentation regarding the situation in Gaza. He emphasized the importance of resilience and warned against the dangers of despair, noting that the struggle in Gaza serves as a reminder of the need for continued activism and boycotts until the current situation in Israel and Palestine is resolved.
