Gaza medical evacuations restricted as casualties continue
The Palestinian Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip reported significant restrictions on medical evacuations. Only five patients and five companions were permitted to travel to Jordan via the Karem Abu Salem crossing, out of a group of 75 children scheduled for treatment. The Ministry stated that these limitations reflect ongoing obstacles to medical transfers, despite the urgent need for specialized care for complex cases, particularly children.
In a separate report on the security situation, the Ministry of Health confirmed five deaths and 18 injuries in Gaza over a 24-hour period. Fatalities included individuals targeted in strikes in the Al-Mawasi area of Rafah. These incidents occur as the ceasefire agreement, mediated by Arab and American parties in Sharm el-Sheikh, enters its second year amid continued field violations and accusations of non-compliance. Approximately 21,000 patients and wounded individuals currently await medical evacuation for treatment outside the Gaza Strip.
