A joint report by Oxfam, the Palestine Economic Policy Research Institute (MAS) and the Palestine Trade Centre (PalTrade) estimates that rebuilding the Gaza Strip will cost about $71.4 billion over the next decade. The figure, derived from the UN‑EU‑World Bank Rapid Damage and Needs Assessment released in April, is roughly seven times the combined reconstruction costs of previous Gaza wars. The report notes that $26.3 billion will be needed in the first 18 months to restore essential services, critical infrastructure and support economic recovery.

The analysis also highlights the human toll of more than two years of conflict: at least 73,000 Palestinians killed, 173,000 injured and 1.9 million displaced. It warns that reconstruction cannot succeed without direct Palestinian involvement, describing the effort as both a humanitarian and political task. Senior MAS researcher Misyef Jamil emphasized that plans devised abroad would be merely cosmetic without local participation.
