Gaza Scholars Union President warns of demographic threats to Jerusalem
At the International Saladin and Jerusalem Panel organized by HÜDA PAR to commemorate the anniversary of the conquest of Jerusalem, Dr. Mervan Abu Asim, President of the Gaza Scholars Union, addressed the demographic and security threats facing Jerusalem and the Al-Aqsa Mosque.
Abu Asim highlighted expansionist policies involving the establishment of settlements on strategic hills and the occupation of agricultural lands. He noted that Jerusalem is being divided into east and west, with dozens of military checkpoints controlling access to the Al-Aqsa Mosque area. He further stated that these actions aim to facilitate a demographic shift by reducing the local population through extreme embargoes and pressure, while simultaneously offering large sums of money to residents to sell their homes.
