Gaza stabilization force planned amid reports of Hamas rebuilding

Plans are developing for an international stabilization force in Gaza, intended to secure the enclave, protect aid, and support a political transition following the withdrawal of Israeli forces. Under a plan supported by the Trump administration, the force could consist of approximately 20,000 personnel under American supervision. As of February 2026, Albania, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Kosovo, and Morocco have formally expressed their intention to contribute to this mission.

Despite these stabilization efforts and the implementation of a ceasefire, reports indicate that Hamas remains a significant force. According to a report by Channel 12, the group maintains between 25,000 and 30,000 operational armed combatants. The report suggests that Hamas is actively rebuilding its arsenal and maintaining its underground tunnel networks, particularly in areas where the Israeli military has withdrawn as part of the ceasefire agreement.
