Gaza strike kills mother and leaves three-year-old orphan in Al-Rimal
An Israeli airstrike targeting a residential building in the Al-Rimal neighborhood of Gaza City killed 33-year-old Reem Asaad Awad and left her three-year-old daughter, Mariam Ghanem, orphaned. The strike occurred around 4:00 AM on Wednesday, hitting an apartment in the Al-Amin building near the Abu Talal intersection.
Witnesses and journalists reported that the strike ignited a massive fire that spread rapidly through the apartment. Journalist Ali Al-Jaafrawi and several others managed to rescue the young child from the flames before transporting her to Al-Shifa Medical Complex, where she is being treated for burns.
Mariam’s father, Ahmed Ghanem, was reportedly killed at the beginning of the conflict. Israel stated it is investigating the strike, claiming it targeted a Hamas operative, though no evidence was provided. The incident occurred amid ongoing violations of a ceasefire agreement.
