Gazi Baba Municipality accused of concealing contaminated water

Maja Nikodinovska, a councilor from the Levica party, has accused the Gazi Baba Municipality of withholding information regarding seriously compromised drinking water quality. According to documentation obtained through a public information request, high concentrations of Escherichia coli have been detected in the water supply.

The contamination affects several settlements, including Bulachani, Rashtak, Brnjarci, and Viniche. Nikodinovska questioned why residents were not promptly informed that their water was microbiologically unsafe and criticized the failure to place an initiative for public water quality testing results on the municipal agenda.

The councilor also noted that these discussions preceded recent tensions involving Mayor Boban Stefkovski, alleging that authorities have attempted to silence those seeking accountability for the water quality issues.
