Gaziantep adds three more traditional flavors to its registered products

Gaziantep has added three more traditional flavors to its list of geographically indicated products. Following efforts by the Gaziantep Metropolitan Municipality, the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office has officially registered Sakız Helvası, Avrat Salatası, and Diş Hediği.

Diş Hediği, a food prepared to celebrate a baby's first tooth, has received a designation of origin under registration number 1905. The new registrations bring the total number of geographically indicated products in the city to 112.

In addition to these domestic protections, five of Gaziantep's products already hold European Union geographical indication status: Antep Baklavası, Araban Sarımsağı, Menengiç Kahvesi, Antep Fıstık Ezmesi, and Gaziantep Lahmacunu. Further registration processes are currently underway for products including Oğuzeli Nar Ekşisi, Antep Muskası, Antep Bulguru, Nizip Nanesi, and Nizip Mızar Havucu.
