Gaziantep court sentences defendants in fatal shooting case

A court in Gaziantep has issued sentences in the case involving the deaths of Fatih Tekin and Enes Şimşek. The incident occurred on March 23, 2025, in the Şehitkamil district during iftar, when the victims' vehicle was intercepted by individuals with whom they had a dispute, resulting in a fatal armed attack.

The Gaziantep 1st High Criminal Court sentenced three defendants to 12 years and 6 months in prison for each of the two murders. Additionally, two juvenile defendants received sentences of 4 years, 5 months, and 10 days for each victim for aiding the killings. The court ruled that the detention of the juvenile defendants would continue. One defendant, Ömer Yasin K., was acquitted due to insufficient evidence.

During the proceedings, several defendants denied the charges. Ali Hamza K. claimed he fired only in self-defense, while others maintained they were not involved in the killings or did not possess weapons at the time of the incident.
