Gaziantep hosts 8th International Turkic World Science and Culture Festival

The 8th International Turkic World Science and Culture Festival has opened at the Kamil Ocak Sports Hall in Gaziantep. Organized by the Gaziantep Metropolitan Municipality and the Governorate in partnership with the Turkic World Children’s Foundation, the three-day event brings together young researchers, inventors, and cultural performers from Turkey and various countries across three continents.

From over one thousand applications, a selection committee chose 142 projects to be showcased. These projects include original experiments, applied prototypes, and multidisciplinary investigations ranging from engineering and data science to social science studies. The festival features science workshops, technology demonstrations, and cultural performances designed to foster interdisciplinary ties and connect early-stage research with local industry and mentors.

Gaziantep Mayor Fatma Şahin addressed the attendees, emphasizing the importance of youth becoming producers of technology rather than passive consumers. She highlighted the need for technological independence in fields such as artificial intelligence and big data, noting that scientific collaboration can strengthen the linguistic and intellectual bonds within the Turkic world.
