Minister Göktaş visits Gaziantep to discuss social welfare and family policies
Turkish Family and Social Services Minister Mahinur Özdemir Göktaş conducted a series of visits in Gaziantep, focusing on social welfare, family support, and disability rights. During a meeting with martyrs' families and veterans, Göktaş emphasized the importance of national unity and stated that a ‘terror-free Turkey’ is essential for peace and stability.
Addressing climate change and gender leadership at a forum held in cooperation with UN Women, Göktaş highlighted that climate goals cannot be achieved without empowering women, who play a central role in environmental and agricultural labor. She noted that Turkey aims to make the upcoming COP31 an ‘Implementation COP’.
Regarding social support, Göktaş reported that the number of disabled civil servants has increased fifteenfold since 2002, now exceeding 83,000. She also discussed the Family and Youth Fund, noting that over 261,000 young people have utilized marriage credits, which have been increased to between 200,000 and 250,000 TL to support young families.
