Gaziantep hosts Turkish Clubs Taekwondo Championship

The Turkish Clubs Taekwondo Championship has commenced at the Kamil Ocak Sports Hall in Gaziantep. Organized by the Gaziantep Metropolitan Municipality in coordination with the Gaziantep Governor's Office, the Turkish Taekwondo Federation, and the Provincial Directorate of Youth and Sports, the event runs from August 10 to August 15.

More than 2,000 athletes, including 1,091 women and 920 men, are participating from 702 clubs representing 69 different cities.

Gaziantep Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Fatma Şahin highlighted the city's commitment to becoming a sports hub, noting that scientific talent scouting of 22,000 kindergarten students identified 600 children with an aptitude for taekwondo. Governor Kemal Çeber also emphasized the city's capacity to host major large-scale organizations and the importance of sports in developing healthy citizens.
