Gaziantep Natural Life Park flamingo population reaches 52

The flamingo population at the Gaziantep Natural Life Park has reached 52 birds. The colony, which began with approximately 20 flamingos about a decade ago, grew following the recent birth of four chicks.

Celal Özsöyler, Head of the Nature Conservation Department for the Metropolitan Municipality, stated that the park is the largest in Turkey, the third largest in Europe, and the fourth largest in the world. The facility currently hosts 8,000 animals across 380 different species.

The park’s Flamingo Island is noted as the only location in Turkey where flamingos breed. To maintain a stable environment, staff members remain consistent to avoid disturbing the animals. Officials noted that the birds have adapted well to the habitat, which has contributed to their successful breeding cycles.
