Gaziantep secures geographical indications for two local delicacies
Gaziantep has expanded its list of registered culinary products following the certification of 'Avrat Salatası' and 'Diş Hediği' by the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office. These additions bring the city's total number of geographically indicated products to 112.
Avrat Salatası is a traditional salad composed of tomatoes, onions, green peppers, garlic, parsley, mint, lemon, pomegranate molasses, and spices. Diş Hediği is a traditional treat prepared to celebrate a baby's first tooth.
The registration process was led by the Gaziantep Metropolitan Municipality's Department of Sustainable Agriculture and Rural Development. The initiative aims to protect traditional production methods, increase international recognition of local products, and add value to the regional economy.
