Malatya Archaeology Museum reopens after earthquake restoration
The Malatya Archaeology Museum is set to reopen to the public following extensive restoration and reinforcement efforts. The facility had sustained damage during the February 6 earthquakes.
Culture and Tourism Minister Mehmet Nuri Ersoy announced that the project involved upgrading exhibition halls, administrative units, and storage facilities, as well as completing landscaping and exterior renovations. The museum covers 1,350 square meters of indoor area across two floors.
The exhibition layout is organized chronologically and thematically. The lower floor features artifacts from the Arslantepe excavations alongside a coin collection. The upper floor houses finds from scientific and rescue excavations conducted in the Upper Euphrates Basin, including materials from sites such as Değirmentepe, İmamoğlu, Köşkerbaba, Pirot, and Cafer Höyük. Additionally, the museum includes a dedicated display area for Akçadağ Arga Höyük and a reconstruction area for the Darende Maşattepe Tumulus.
