Gaziosmanpaşa: Woman fatally shot by stalker despite restraining order

A 41-year-old woman, Şerife Gezer, was fatally shot in the Şemsipaşa neighborhood of Gaziosmanpaşa. The suspect, 51-year-old Hakan Sayacı, allegedly intercepted Gezer while she was walking on the street and shot her in the chest and neck.

Gezer was transported to a private hospital but succumbed to her injuries despite medical intervention. Police recovered two shell casings at the scene. Sayacı was taken into custody after being persuaded by officers not to turn the weapon on himself and has been referred to the courthouse.

Gezer’s brother, Hasan Hüseyin Gezer, stated that the suspect had been harassing the family for two years. He noted that a restraining order had previously been issued against Sayacı following prior attacks on the victim and her father. The victim's mother, Sebahat Gezer, expressed her grief and called for measures to prevent similar tragedies from affecting other women.
