Gazipur man killed by son following drug-related dispute

A 60-year-old man, Abdus Samad, was killed by his son, Anwar Hossain, in the Sitalia village of Sreepur, Gazipur. The incident occurred around 3:00 AM on Sunday when the son, who suffers from drug addiction, allegedly attacked his father with a stick during a dispute with his wife.

Witnesses and family members stated that Samad attempted to intervene in the argument between his son and daughter-in-law. In an effort to escape the attack, Samad sought refuge in a neighbor's house, but the assailant followed and struck him repeatedly. Samad was pronounced dead upon arrival at the Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College Hospital.

The victim had spent 18 years working in Saudi Arabia and had reportedly made numerous attempts to rehabilitate his son, including sending him abroad for treatment and enrolling him in rehabilitation centers. Following the attack, the suspect fled the scene and remains at large.
