Gazprom suspends natural gas deliveries to Armenia

Gazprom has suspended natural gas deliveries to Armenia, citing planned maintenance on the North Caucasus – Transcaucasus main gas pipeline in Russia. While the company stated the interruption would last 11 days and that gas volumes from Iran would ensure continuous supply to consumers, the move comes amid heightened tensions between Moscow and Yerevan.

Analysts suggest the suspension may be a form of economic pressure related to Armenia’s increasing engagement with the European Union. Reports indicate that Russia has previously pressured Armenian leadership regarding the country’s geopolitical direction, including calls for a referendum on whether to align with the Eurasian Economic Union or the European Union.
