GB boxers secure three guaranteed medals at European Championships

Great Britain has secured at least three medals at the European Boxing Championships in Sofia, Bulgaria. Abdul Burton, Chantelle Reid, and Damar Thomas have all reached the semi-finals, guaranteeing them podium finishes.

Abdul Burton secured his place in the semi-finals by defeating host nation boxer and Paris 2024 Olympic bronze medallist Javier Ibanez Diaz via a 3-2 split decision. Chantelle Reid advanced to the light-middleweight semi-finals following a dominant victory over Ireland’s Evelyn Igharo. Damar Thomas also progressed to the final four, bolstering the nation’s medal tally.

Other British competitors faced narrow defeats. Ruby White lost a close decision to Turkey’s Hatice Akbas, while Isaac Okoh was eliminated following a tight bout against Germany’s Kevin Lebowski.
