Gábor Kubatov responds to new Hungarian sports conflict of interest rules
Gábor Kubatov, the president of Ferencváros (FTC), has responded to the Hungarian government's announcement regarding new conflict of interest regulations for sports club leaders. The announcement by Péter Magyar indicates that these rules may impact several high-profile figures, including Kubatov, Tamás Deutsch of MTK Budapest, and Péter Szijjártó of Budapest Honvéd.
In a video statement, Kubatov described the current situation as a “tough situation” but expressed his determination to continue serving the club if it is still needed. He compared his connection to Ferencváros to that of a parent to a child, stating that he has invested immense energy and heart into the organization over his 15-year tenure.
While the new regulations create uncertainty regarding his future leadership, especially ahead of the club's presidential elections in October, Kubatov emphasized that he intends to serve the club even more intensely if required.
