GÜBRETAŞ secures patents for ammonia recovery systems

GÜBRETAŞ has received patents from TÜRKPATENT for two engineering solutions developed at its Yarımca facility to improve ammonia recovery in its 25,000-ton capacity cryogenic liquid ammonia storage tank.

The first solution, titled ‘Ammonia Tank Discharge System’, allows for the controlled discharge of liquid ammonia that remains below the pump suction level. The second solution, ‘Discharge System via Cold Drilling in Double-Walled Ammonia Tanks’, focuses on discharging liquid ammonia located between the inner and outer walls of double-walled tanks.

These systems are designed to prevent resource loss by recovering ammonia instead of burning it, while also enhancing operational safety and streamlining preparations for periodic tank inspections. The patents provide 20 years of protection from the application dates. Ammonia is a critical nitrogen raw material used in the production of NPK fertilizers.
