GCash expands stock market access via GStocks PH

GCash has enhanced its GStocks PH feature, allowing fully verified users to open brokerage accounts with AB Capital Securities Inc. directly within the app. This digital integration enables Filipinos to invest in over 280 companies listed on the Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE) with a minimum investment of PHP 500.

The service aims to lower barriers to entry by removing the need for separate bank accounts or external brokers. Users can complete registration in minutes, fund their trading wallets without transfer fees, and manage orders during trading hours. The platform has also transitioned from a fixed commission fee to a 0.25% flat rate and includes an IPO subscription feature.

This development follows a trend of increasing digital participation in the Philippine stock market. According to PSE data, local stock market accounts grew by 27.3% to 3.64 million, with 99.2% of these being retail investors. Digital accounts, including those through e-wallets and online platforms, saw a year-on-year growth of 30.5%.
