GCB Bank launches GH¢1m unsecured loans for Ghanaian MSMEs

GCB Bank PLC has launched a new SME Unsecured Business Loan to support micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) in Ghana. During the Kumasi edition of its MSME Caravan Business Clinic, the bank announced that eligible customers can access up to GH¢1 million without the need for collateral or formal financial statements. Instead, funding amounts will be determined based on the customer's account activity within a GCB business account.

Gabriel Owusu Siaw, Head of Micro and Small Enterprises, identified business structure, access to financing, and lack of collateral as the primary hurdles facing local entrepreneurs. In addition to the unsecured loans, the bank is promoting its Value Added Package (VAP) insurance initiative, which offers coverage to qualifying MSMEs at no premium cost, alongside expanded digital services for transaction management and invoicing.
