GCCL supports Hanmi Pharm in development of domestic obesity drug Epe
GCCL, a global clinical trial specimen analysis institution, has announced its role in supporting the development of Hanmi Pharm’s new obesity drug, Epe (active ingredient efeglenatide). As the first domestic GLP-1 class obesity treatment developed using local technology from candidate discovery to commercialization, Epe has recently entered the prescription stage.
During the Phase 3 clinical trials in South Korea, GCCL provided integrated pharmacokinetics (PK) analysis and central lab services. The company managed the collection, transport, storage, and analysis of specimens from approximately 30 domestic clinical institutions. This process included evaluating how drug concentrations change within the body over time to ensure accuracy and reproducibility across multiple sites.
GCCL aims to leverage this experience to strengthen its analytical capabilities in the obesity and metabolic disease sectors, continuing to support the commercialization of innovative research from domestic pharmaceutical and biotech companies.
