Gdańsk Agro Terminal Opens, Boosting Poland’s Grain Export Capacity

The first stage of the Gdański Agro Terminal (GAT) in the Port of Gdańsk was officially opened on 27 July 2026. The new flat‑bed warehouse can store 30,000 tonnes of grain and is already being used during the 2026 harvest season. Officials say the facility will enable larger vessels to load 30–40 tonnes of grain per visit, improving Poland’s ability to export cereals.

The terminal is part of a multi‑year project that will eventually include 24 steel silos with a total capacity of 100,000 tonnes, expanded quays, and enhanced rail and road connections. Deputy Agriculture Minister Małgorzata Gromadzka highlighted that the infrastructure will allow Poland to rotate surplus grain, increase the market share of state‑owned grain companies, and provide strategic reserves for food security. Export targets aim for up to three million tonnes of grain annually by 2030, with key markets envisioned in Egypt, Indonesia, Malaysia and Vietnam.
