Gdańsk apartment fire results in one fatality

A fatal fire occurred in a high-rise residential building in the Zaspa district of Gdańsk on Monday morning, August 31. The blaze broke out on the 10th floor, the highest level of the building, at approximately 4:55 AM.

Firefighters arrived to find a well-developed fire and conducted an evacuation of approximately 30 residents from the building, including individuals from an adjacent apartment on the same floor. During the operation, emergency responders discovered charred remains in one of the apartments. Preliminary findings suggest the deceased may be a woman.

Six fire brigade units were deployed to the scene. While the fire has been contained, crews remained on-site to extinguish remaining embers and soak the apartment to prevent reignition.
