Gdańsk shopping centers undergo major transitions

The retail landscape in Gdańsk is undergoing significant changes as major shopping centers transition through redevelopment and new tenant acquisitions.

Alfa Centrum in the Przymorze district is rapidly losing tenants ahead of a planned transformation into a residential and service complex. Once home to over 80 retailers, including brands like Bershka, Rossmann, and Helios cinema, the center is nearly empty. Only three brands—Tchibo, Media Expert, and Empik—remain, with their lease agreements set to expire by the end of 2026.

Meanwhile, Galeria Przymorze is undergoing renovations to accommodate the arrival of the American off-price retailer TK Maxx. The construction includes adapting a new retail space and modifying the center’s layout, such as installing new stairs to improve customer flow. While the specific opening date for TK Maxx has not yet been announced, the addition is intended to strengthen the center’s fashion and lifestyle offerings.
