Gdańsk stages volleyball fan zone and basketball qualifier as Poland prepares for 2027 World Championships

During the weekend of 8–9 August, the Ołowianka arena in Gdańsk was transformed into a free volleyball fan zone. Organized by the city, the Pomeranian Voivodeship and the Polish Volleyball Federation, the event offered serve‑speed tests, reflex games, quizzes and meet‑and‑greet sessions with national team stars and players from ENERGA Trefl Gdańsk. It is part of the promotional build‑up to the 2027 Men’s Volleyball World Championship that Poland will host.

On 30 August, the Polish men’s basketball team will face Germany at the ERGO Arena in Gdańsk‑Sopot. The match is the first home game for Poland in the decisive second‑round qualifiers for the 2027 Basketball World Cup. After an unbeaten first‑round campaign, Poland leads its group with 12 points and aims to secure a spot in the final tournament. Ticket sales are near capacity, reflecting strong public interest.
