Poland’s president, Karol Nawrocki, opened an informal summit of Central‑Eastern European heads of state at his summer residence in Jurata. Invited were the presidents of Lithuania (Gitanas Nauseda), Latvia (Edgars Rinkevics), Estonia (Alar Karis) and Romania (Nicușor Dan). The leaders toured the Gdynia Naval Port before convening for talks on regional security, cooperation in the Baltic and Black Sea basins, and preparation for the upcoming NATO summit in Ankara. Discussions also covered trans‑Atlantic relations, support for Ukraine, and the development of energy and transport infrastructure. The meeting coincided with the 70th anniversary of the 1956 Poznań workers’ uprising, with plans for joint commemorations. Lithuanian President Nauseda signaled willingness to act as a mediator in any Polish‑Ukrainian diplomatic tension, reflecting the summit’s broader aim of stabilising the region amid ongoing war in Ukraine.
