GDDKiA announces S5 expressway repairs and S11 junction plans

The Generalna Dyrekcja Dróg Krajowych i Autostrad (GDDKiA) has announced several major road infrastructure developments in Poland.

A renovation project for a 9-kilometer section of the S5 expressway will begin this autumn. The work, located between the A2 Poznań Wschód and Strumiany junctions, involves replacing three structural layers of the pavement on the lane heading toward Gniezno and upgrading the Kleszczewo junction. Colas Polska has been awarded the contract, valued at over 13.8 million PLN. The project is expected to take 105 days, with completion targeted for the first half of December.

Additionally, GDDKiA has selected the W1 variant for the construction of a new junction connecting the S11 expressway with the A1 motorway in Piekary Śląskie. This design includes a special link to allow exits toward the city while bypassing the center. A tender for the approximately 5-kilometer section between the Radzionków and Piekary Śląskie junctions is planned by the end of 2026. This development is part of a larger 65-kilometer S11 project in the Silesian Voivodeship intended to improve transit through northern Upper Silesia.
