GDS Holdings releases 2025 sustainability report, earns MSCI AAA rating

GDS Holdings Limited (NASDAQ: GDS, HKEX: 9698), a leading developer and operator of high‑performance data centres in China, issued its 2025 Sustainability Report. The report shows renewable energy usage rising to 60%, with direct green power purchases increasing over 60% year‑over‑year and supplying 75% of total renewable sources. Average Power Usage Effectiveness improved from 1.24 in 2024 to 1.23, and 90% of its self‑developed data centres meet green building standards, with 45 facilities now certified green. Carbon intensity fell 23.1% compared with the 2023 baseline.

GDS also launched China’s first pilot converting recycled waste cooking oil into biodiesel for backup power, cutting lifecycle emissions by more than 90% versus conventional diesel, and its Shanghai Pujiang Data Center Campus earned China’s first Zero Waste‑to‑Landfill Management Performance Certification. The company upgraded its MSCI ESG rating from A to AAA, the highest tier, while retaining a B rating from CDP, inclusion in the S&P CSA Rating 2025 Yearbook, and Moody’s NZA‑2 net‑zero assessment, making it the only data‑centre company worldwide to pass the assessment. Chairman and CEO William Huang said the results demonstrate the company’s deep commitment to integrating sustainability across its operations and its path toward a 2030 carbon‑neutral goal.
