Gdynia police under investigation for alleged misconduct during search
Authorities in Gdynia, Poland, have launched an investigation into a police intervention following a video circulating on social media. The footage allegedly shows officers verbally abusing and physically striking a man in handcuffs during a search.
The District Prosecutor's Office in Gdańsk confirmed that the Tczew prosecutor's office is handling the case. In response to the incident, the Gdynia Municipal Police Commander has decided to initiate disciplinary proceedings against the officers involved and has suspended them from their duties pending the outcome of the investigation.
A legal representative for the detained individual has filed a motion to have the search declared unlawful due to irregularities. The individual had previously been facing charges related to the possession and distribution of narcotics and driving under the influence.
