Gdynia Polish Film Festival announces juries and program

The 51st Gdynia Polish Film Festival is scheduled to take place from September 21 to 26. The festival will feature several prominent juries, including a main competition jury led by director and philosopher Krzysztof Zanussi. Other jury chairs include Dorota Kędzierzawska for the Perspectives competition and Ewa Braun for the short film competition.

The main competition features films such as Jan Holoubek’s ‘Dziki, dziki wschód’, which will open the festival, as well as works by Paweł Pawlikowski and Jan Komasa.

Additionally, the Latvian film ‘Ulya’, directed by Viesturs Kairišs, will be presented in the ‘Polonica’ section, which highlights productions with Polish connections. The film, featuring cinematography by Wojciech Staroń and production by Małgorzata Staroń, tells the story of Uļjana Semjonova, a world-renowned basketball player whose life and height are explored through the lens of social roles and politics.
