GE Aerospace ships four F404 engines for India’s Tejas program

GE Aerospace has shipped four F404-IN20 high-performance turbofan jet engines to India in September 2026. This delivery is part of an ongoing commitment to support the Indian Air Force and Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) in powering the indigenous LCA Tejas fighter jet programme.

This shipment follows a previous delivery of three engines in August 2026. The availability of these engines is critical to the LCA Tejas Mk1A production schedule, which has previously faced delays due to supply constraints. Former HAL Chairman DK Sunil had previously noted that GE Aerospace aimed to deliver approximately 20 engines during the second half of 2026.
