GE HealthCare launches AI-assisted features for Vscan Air ultrasound

GE HealthCare has introduced two new AI-assisted capabilities for its Vscan Air handheld ultrasound system: Lung Guidance and AutoAS. Both tools have received FDA 510(k) clearance and the European CE mark.

Lung Guidance provides real-time assistance for lung ultrasound image acquisition by directing clinicians to anatomical landmarks, such as the pleural line and diaphragm, within a standard 8-zone protocol. In validation tests, non-specialized users achieved diagnostic-quality images in 95.2 percent of captures using this guidance.

AutoAS is designed to provide automated assessments of moderate-to-severe aortic stenosis. These tools aim to support clinicians performing point-of-care evaluations for patients presenting with respiratory or cardiac symptoms, such as shortness of breath, in time-pressured environments.
