GE HealthCare launches AI tool to predict hospital operational constraints
GE HealthCare has announced CareIntellect for Operations, a new AI-driven Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) application designed to help healthcare systems predict operational constraints up to 72 hours in advance. The tool analyzes hundreds of data points, including bed availability, patient flow delays, staffing levels, and wait times, to identify potential bottlenecks and suggest optimization actions.
The application utilizes two proprietary AI models: Pressure Forecast, which combines historical operational data with real-time information from electronic medical records (EMR), and Estimated Day of Discharge, which provides hourly updates on predicted discharge times. This allows hospital teams to transition from reactive responses to proactive resource management.
Duke Health and The Queen’s Health Systems will be the first healthcare providers to implement the solution for clinical and operational feedback. The technology builds on GE HealthCare’s 20 years of experience in healthcare operational management, including its Command Center technology used by approximately 500 hospitals globally.
