GE HealthCare receives CE Mark for Photonova Spectra CT system

GE HealthCare has received CE Mark approval for its Photonova Spectra photon-counting CT (PCCT) system, marking the start of commercial activities in regions observing the CE Mark. The system utilizes Deep Silicon detector technology to provide ultra-high-definition and spectral imaging.

Designed for high-speed acquisition and precise visualization, the technology aims to assist in detecting small lesions and subtle tissue variations. Clinical applications include neurology, oncology, cardiology, thoracic imaging, and musculoskeletal imaging. The system is also intended to support research in quantitative imaging and spectral biomarker discovery. To manage the high data volumes produced by PCCT, the Photonova Spectra employs Nvidia’s accelerated computing platform and CUDA-optimized reconstruction.

In Japan, medical publications are highlighting the integration of advanced CT technologies, including photon-counting detectors and AI-equipped systems, as part of broader digital transformation (DX) efforts in regional healthcare to improve diagnostic accuracy and clinical efficiency.
