GE Vernova union elections annulled in Spain

The Labor Office of León has annulled the union elections held on July 30 at the GE Vernova wind turbine blade factory in Ponferrada. The decision follows an appeal filed by the CGT union, which alleged serious irregularities during the voting process.

The CGT claimed that representatives from the USO and CCOO unions engaged in improper propaganda distribution and pressured workers by delivering pre-filled voting envelopes at the entrance of the polling station. The ruling mandates that the entire electoral process be reset to the stage immediately preceding the original vote.

In the invalidated election, USO and CCOO were the leading unions. The labor authority emphasized that the new voting process must strictly protect the guarantees of freedom, secrecy, and the direct nature of the suffrage, prohibiting any form of targeted documentation delivery or voter pressure.
