Gears of War: E-Day beta adds PvP Versus after fan demand

The multiplayer open beta for Gears of War: E-Day runs in two weekend windows, 6‑10 August and 13‑17 August 2026. Pre‑order customers and Xbox Game Pass (PC or Ultimate) holders receive early‑access on the first weekend, while the second weekend is open to all players on Xbox Series X|S, PC and Steam.

Originally the test was to feature only the cooperative Horde Siege mode. Following strong community feedback, The Coalition announced that the competitive PvP Versus mode will also be available from the first weekend onward, giving players both co‑op and 4‑v‑4 multiplayer experiences.

The beta includes the Golden Quarter map, four character classes, and supports up to 12 players in Horde Siege (three squads of four). A pre‑load is already available, and the same content will be offered in both weekend windows. The studio has also warned of known technical issues, performance caps, and driver recommendations for PC users.
