Gears of War: E-Day beta adds PvP Versus mode after fan demand
The Coalition announced that the upcoming Gears of War: E-Day open beta will include the long‑requested PvP Versus mode alongside the cooperative Horde Siege mode. The change comes after community feedback on social media, with the studio stating it “listened to the players” and added the mode for the first weekend of testing.
The beta runs in two consecutive weekends in August 2026. Early‑access participants – players who pre‑ordered the game or hold an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate/PC Game Pass subscription – can play from 6 August 21:00 to 10 August 19:00. The open beta for all players follows from 13 August 21:00 to 17 August 19:00. Both periods will feature the same content: Horde Siege (PvE) on the Golden Quarter map and the new 4‑v‑4 PvP Versus mode, with identical class selections and limited‑time rewards that carry over to the full release.
Access is provided via Xbox Series, the Xbox PC app, Steam, and Game Pass. Pre‑load and download options are already available for eligible users. The addition of PvP Versus aims to give testers a broader multiplayer experience before the game's official launch on 6 October 2026.
