Gears of War: E-Day beta sees high player engagement
The multiplayer beta for ‘Gears of War: E-Day’ has achieved significant player engagement, surpassing the Steam concurrent player peaks of previous titles in the franchise. According to SteamDB data, the beta reached a peak of 22,084 simultaneous players, outperforming ‘Gears 5’, which peaked at over 10,000, and ‘Gears Tactics’, which reached 7,351.
Estimates from Alinea Analytics suggest even higher engagement within the broader Xbox and Windows ecosystem, with approximately 1.2 million players participating on the first day of the beta. The beta appears to have positively impacted commercial interest; Steam pre-orders are estimated to have doubled from roughly 50,000 to 100,000 during the testing period.
Player retention also appears strong, with approximately 24 percent of participants spending more than ten hours in the beta. The upcoming prequel, developed by The Coalition, is scheduled for release on October 6, 2026, for PC and Xbox Series X|S, focusing on the origins of the Locust invasion.
