Gears of War: E-Day multiplayer unveiled with Horde Siege, no Battle Pass
The Coalition announced that Gears of War: E-Day will launch on 6 October 2026 for PC and Xbox Series X|S. The multiplayer suite adds a new Horde Siege mode that supports 12 players split into three squads of four on the largest maps ever built for the series, set in the city of Kalona. It also brings back Versus PvP with four 4v4 sub‑modes – Team Deathmatch, Conquest, Demolition and Crucible – and introduces new movement mechanics such as jumping, sliding and vaulting.
All cosmetics are earned through gameplay; the game will have no Battle Pass, no pay‑to‑win items, and rewards are tied to challenges, achievements and seasonal events. A partnership with Metallica provides a themed weapon‑skin set called “Ride the Lightning.” Early‑access beta runs 6–10 August 2026 for pre‑order and Game Pass players, followed by an open beta 13–17 August 2026 for everyone.
The reveal was accompanied by a multiplayer trailer featuring Metallica music and detailed class information for the four playable roles – Assault, Breacher, Marksman and Medic.
