Gears of War: E-Day slated for Oct. 6 launch, budget rumored at $400 million

The Coalition, the Canadian studio behind the Gears of War franchise, announced that the next installment, Gears of War: E‑Day, will release on 6 October for PC and Xbox Series S/X. The game is being developed with support from Playground Games in the United Kingdom and technical assistance from Epic Games, which helped create a near‑photorealistic Unreal Engine 5 demo.

A journalist cited in a recent podcast claimed the development budget could exceed $400 million, which would place the title among the five most expensive video games ever made. Microsoft confirmed the release will be exclusive to its platforms but not a temporary exclusivity.

The Coalition also revealed a limited collector’s edition that will become available on 1 October, five days before the global launch. The package includes a 15‑inch diorama statue of Marcus Fenix and Dominic Santiago, a steel‑book, replica COG plates, in‑game photography, a commemorative box, and several digital bonuses such as early‑access content and a premium weapon pack.
