Gebran Bassil rejects amnesty for crimes against Lebanese Army

Gebran Bassil, leader of the Free Patriotic Movement, addressed a judicial body in Baabda, emphasizing his party's commitment to the Lebanese Army and the rule of law. Bassil rejected any attempts to trade off the lives of soldiers and criticized those who bypass the judiciary to issue general amnesties for criminals.

He argued that while his party supports justice for those wrongfully imprisoned without trial, they oppose broad amnesties that could undermine national security and protect those who have committed crimes against the military. Bassil also challenged opponents regarding the results of audits in the energy sector.
