Gebrüder Weiss to support AMADEE-27 Mars simulation mission

The Austrian Space Forum (ÖWF) is preparing for its AMADEE-27 Mars simulation mission, scheduled to take place from April 5 to 18, 2027, at the Monsaraz Analog Research Station in Portugal. The mission will involve six analog astronauts conducting 17 scientific experiments under conditions designed to mimic Mars.

Logistics company Gebrüder Weiss is playing a key role in the project. On October 30 and 31, 2026, the company’s facilities in Wels, Upper Austria, will serve as a testing ground for technical systems and scientific experiments. These tests include a Mars rover developed by the University of Applied Sciences Upper Austria (FH Oberösterreich), which is designed to assist astronauts with navigation and the transport of scientific samples and equipment.

Gebrüder Weiss will be responsible for transporting high-value research equipment from Wels to Portugal in February 2027, and returning it to the ÖWF headquarters in Innsbruck following the mission. This marks the third time the company has provided logistics support for AMADEE missions, having previously participated in missions in Israel and Armenia.
