Gedeon Richter to resume Lenzetto menopause therapy supply

Gedeon Richter has informed the Spanish Agency of Medicines and Medical Products (AEMPS) that it will progressively resume the supply of Lenzetto, an estradiol-based transdermal spray for menopause, starting in November and continuing into 2027.

The shortage, which began in March 2026, has caused intermittent supply issues for alternative hormone replacement therapies due to a surge in demand. AEMPS noted that the laboratory failed to fulfill its obligation to report incidents in advance. While the company initially claimed to be meeting demand, it later reported that high demand and issues with the administration device led to a total lack of stock, affecting all markets throughout 2026.

AEMPS cautioned that the supply timeline provided by Gedeon Richter may not be entirely accurate. The agency noted that while Lenzetto is unique in its spray form, other authorized alternatives such as transdermal patches or gels are available to patients.
