Gedsted to host large-scale emergency response exercise

On September 3, 2026, various Danish authorities will conduct a large-scale emergency exercise named ‘Øvelse Tordenskjold’ in and around Gedsted in Vesthimmerland. The drill is designed to test inter-agency cooperation and response procedures during a major incident.

Participants include North Jutland Police, North Jutland Emergency Management, the Danish Emergency Management Agency, the Home Guard, Falck, and regional authorities from North and Central Jutland. To ensure realism, the specific scenario remains unknown to the participants in advance, forcing them to react to evolving information in real-time.

Activity in the area is expected to begin around midday, with the core exercise taking place between 17:00 and 21:00. Citizens and motorists should expect increased presence of emergency vehicles and potential traffic diversions managed by the Home Guard.
