Geelong Cats coach Chris Scott declines comment on Zach Merrett trade talks

Geelong Cats head coach Chris Scott said the club is interested in signing top players but refused to confirm any contact with Essendon midfielder Zach Merrett regarding a possible trade. He described any discussions as “private and confidential” and declined to comment on reports that he had spoken directly with the 30‑year‑old, who has one year left on his contract and is expected to request a trade at season’s end.
